Insidious creeping thing
Your hand of friendship
Snaked out at me
Seductive and appealing
I took it believing
Happy to be led
But there were limits
I did not see
Smiles that hid boxes
Where you keep
The unforgiven
Their perceived slight
Remains unknown to them
All they saw
Were your eyes
And your smile
They believed as I did
That your friendship
Was something more
Misguided and misled
They as I
Whimper in their anguish
What have we done
What have I done
