Valor's Rest

Imagining
Ignites me
Shooting sparks
Across the fabric
Of my soul
Coursing, rushing
Veins on fire
I combust
No other touch
Does this
Quite like yours
No gentle thrusting
But rather
A powerful consumption
Taking and giving
Holding on
And letting go
Breathless
A thousand sensations
Buried and bursting
Filling the core
Of all that I am
Slaked, glistening
The glow lingers
A delicious shimmer
It is enough…
For now

Valor's Rest - A Respite For The Weary
Here, the weary champion comes to seek solace. In this place, for a single moment, she can lower her sword, put down her shield and just be. It is a place for the poet and the dreamer, the lover and the huntress, the sinner and the seductress. It is Valor's Rest.
To compliment Valor's Rest, I've created a separate blog: Creative Renderings. This is where the rest of my poems spend their days.
This post was once on my profile but I am in the process of changing things around and didn't want to lose the information. Be sure to check out my other blogs. :-)

Snake Eyes
Insidious creeping thing
Your hand of friendship
Snaked out at me
Seductive and appealing
I took it believing
Happy to be led
But there were limits
I did not see
Smiles that hid boxes
Where you keep
The unforgiven
Their perceived slight
Remains unknown to them
All they saw
Were your eyes
And your smile
They believed as I did
That your friendship
Was something more
Misguided and misled
They as I
Whimper in their anguish
What have we done
What have I done
Published in the September Edition of "Rattlesnake Review", a literary magazine out of Northern California.
Always About You
This was always about you
From the beginning
Your time, your energy
Your boundaries
I was never asked what I wanted
Never considered important
Or special
I brushed my concerns aside
Like cobwebs they gathered
In dark corners waiting
They nagged at me
In unguarded moments
Even as you continued
Your assault on my soul
Then one day like a premonition
They scurried from their hiding place
And I knew, just knew
Your attack when it came
Still caught me unawares
I tripped and you
Watched me fall
This was always about you
What you wanted
Your privacy, your desires
Your boundaries
Somehow I crossed over
Without knowing
And paid for it in tears.

Thirst of Wanting
You know the thirst of wanting
That unquenchable thing
That keeps you awake
Long after the darkness
Has taken your body
It leads you a-wandering
Between sleep and desire
Making you wonder how much longer
You can keep the beast at bay
Taunted by her memory
Those silky, subtle smiles
You have become the hunted
Haunted and hungry
For so much more
Not daring to indulge
The whisper of her kiss
Even as your mind conjures
The imagined recollection that is
The taste of her skin on your tongue
You beg for dreamless slumber
That never comes
Yet even in sleep she is there
Sliding silently through your mind
As you slip deeper into her breathless seduction

He Lives
Art is my love’s passion
He lives as he paints
With his hands and his heart
Touching the soul of humanity
With every stroke of a brush
His talented fingers tell a story
While his knowing eyes watch
Because the world is waiting
Idle Heart
My heart floats from a string
That dangles from the fingers
Of my love’s hand
While he holds me
Just out of reach
I wait for him to
Draw me close
Yet I remain
An idle flirtation
A mere figment of
What has yet to be
And what may never become
